Crude oils are organic in nature and made up of combinations of carbon and hydrogen with some amounts of sulfur, nitrogen, oxygen and traces of vanadium, nickel and other metals. The compounds of carbon and hydrogen are complex but are principally paraffinic, naphthenic and aromatic. Crude oil consists of thousands of compounds, its complexity increasing with the boiling range of the oil.
Premium Plus Unleaded Gasoline Product Specifications
Gasoline is a volatile mixture of liquid hydrocarbons derived from the fractional distillation of crude petroleum and from complex processes. Generally containing small amounts of additives, it is suitable for use as a fuel in spark-ignition internal combustion engines.
In recent years, there has been an ever-growing body of governmental regulations to address concerns about the environment. Initially, the majority of the regulations was aimed at the automobile and has resulted in technologies that have significantly reduced vehicle emissions. Regulations have also been aimed at compositional changes to the fuels. The first major change in composition was the introduction of unleaded gasoline, followed by the total phase-out of leaded gasoline in the country with the ratification of the Philippine Clean Air Act.
PTTPC's Unleaded 93R and Premium Plus 95R motor gasoline products conform to the chemical and physical requirements specified by the latest version of the Philippine National Standard and Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999. The significant properties are the aromatics and benzene contents of the gasoline, which is below the maximum allowable limit of 35% and 2%, respectively.

|Performa 95+ (E10) Premium Gasoline
PTT Philippines Corporation, a subsidiary of the PTTPLC, the largest energy company in Thailand launched at its PTT Park n’ Fly Service Station in Pasay City, its new ethanol blended Performa 95+ (E10) gasoline.
Since 1985, the Royal Chitralada Projects, an initiative of the King and PTTPLC have been in the forefront in the development of the use of ethanol as an alternative fuel. The alternative fuel program in Thailand has been very successful and PTT would like to pass on the knowledge and experience of the alternative program to help support the Philippine government’s biofuel program.
Republic Act No. 9367, or the Biofuels Act of 2006, mandates the use of biofuels, including bioethanol, as an alternative fuel source in the current grades of gasoline products available in the market.
E10 is bioethanol-blended gasoline that consists of 10% bioethanol and 90% gasoline. Bioethanol is an alternative energy resource produced from organic matter. It is a byproduct of fermented carbohydrates such as starch or sugar found in agricultural crops.
The local sources of bioethanol are agricultural products such as sugarcane, corn, cassava, and nipa, which can be grown and harvested regularly. As such, it offers a considerable advantage over fossil fuels for being renewable.
Performa 95+ (E10) has a higher oxygen content thus promoting improved engine combustion resulting in lower greenhouse gas emissions and better vehicle performance. Motorist will now have a chance enjoy a high octane and end environment –friendly gasoline at a cheaper price.
Performa 95+ (E10) can be used in all cars with fuel-injected engines and there is generally no need for any expensive engine improvements or modifications. For the information of the public, PTT recommends that when a motorist initially fills up with E10 it recommends that level of gasoline inside the fuel tank of the vehicle is almost empty.
The type of materials of the vehicle’s fuel system, including elastometers and gaskets, should be compatible with bioethanol. PTT recommends that car owners consult their dealer or manufacturer for additional information.

Diesel 0.05% Sulfur Product Specifications
Diesel is the portion of the crude oil that distills out within the temperature range of approximately 200 ºC to 370 ºC, which is higher than the boiling range of gasoline. Diesel, also known as distillates, may contain small amounts of hydrocarbon or non-hydrocarbon additives to improve diesel fuel performance such as ignition qualities and other characteristics suitable for compression ignition engines.
In contrast to motor gasoline, which is ignited by an electrical spark, diesel fuel is ignited in an internal combustion engine by the heat of air under high compression. Because of the mode of ignition, a high cetane number is required in a good diesel fuel.
The quality of diesel has improved as a result of the Clean Air law. Significant improvement in the maximum allowable sulfur content has been implemented, from 0.50% prior to the enactment of the law, down to the present level of 0.05% for automotive diesel fuel.
Jet-A fuel quality worldwide is dictated by the British Ministry of Defense (DERD) specifications and those of the airlines, engine manufacturers and industry groups such as ASTM and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Defense Standard (DEF STAN) 91-91 and ASTM D1655 specify the requirements and standard specifications for aviation turbine fuels intended for use in aircraft gas turbine engines.
Military jet fuel is dictated largely by the US Department of Defense (US MIL) specifications and corresponding DERD specifications. Most international airlines have adopted the IATA Guidance Material for their jet fuel specification requirements.
For jointly operated systems in which fuel from a number of suppliers is commingled, this led to the development of the Aviation Fuel Quality Requirements for Jointly Operated Systems (AFQRJOS). This standard represents the most stringent requirements of the DEF STAN 91-91 and ASTM D1655.
